Cutting and pasting code from the SPLat Knowledge Base

Throughout the SPLat Knowledge Base (SKB) with have pieces of sample SPLat code. You should be able to copy and paste these into SPLat/PC and run them. Unfortunately, idiosyncrasies in various web browsers and in the HTML help file rendering (which at heart is Internet Explorer) sometimes produce unwanted results like all line breaks being removed.

Here are some things you can try to work around this problem:

I am reading the SKB as: Possible fixes (we are chasing a possibly moving target here, so these measures may not always work)
A web page, using Internet Explorer as my browser.
  1. Use FireFox or Google Chrome instead.
  2. Copy from the SKB web page, paste into Microsoft Word, then copy from Word and paste into SPLat/PC.
  3. Copy from the SKB web page, paste into a new email in Outlook, Gmail or Thunderbird, then copy back from there and paste into SPLat/PC.
  4. Copy from the SKB webpage, paste into Open Office writer, Save As Text to a file name that you give a .spt extension. Open that file in SPLat/PC.
  5. Using Internet Explorer, enable "Compatibility View", then copy and paste into SPLat/PC

As a splat_knowledge_base.chm (HTML Help) format file (This is where the whole SKB has been downloaded or installed of a CD as a single file)
  1. Copy from the SKB web page, paste into Microsoft Word, then copy from Word and paste into SPLat/PC.
  2. Copy from the SKB web page, paste into a new email in Outlook, Gmail or Thunderbird, then copy back from there and paste into SPLat/PC.
  3. Copy from the SKB web page, paste into Open Office writer, Save As Text to a file name that you give a .spt extension. Open that file in SPLat/PC.
