MS120: Programming cable
The controller needs to be connected to a PC for program download. The full process of connecting to the PC is described in the help file that comes with SPLat/PC, our programming software.
For this controller you need a special SPLat programming cable, PC232. This cable is supplied with the Developer’s Kit, and may also be ordered separately through our website. The cable plugs into a 9-pin serial (COM) port on a PC.
You also need a computer with a serial (COM) port. Modern notebook computers tend not to have COM ports. In that case you will need a USB to Serial adaptor. Not all such adaptors work equally well. The ones we find work are based on the FTDI chipset. These are available on our website.
