To configure the SX10509 you connect it to your Local Area Network (LAN) and use a web browser (such as FireFox or Internet Explorer) on a PC connected to the same LAN to communicate with the SX10509.

The SX10509 will automatically configure itself on most networks when it is turned on. Various settings may be altered with a web browser on your PC provided the PC is connected to the same LAN as the SX10509. You cannot do this via the internet unless you have something fancy like a VPN connection or place the SX10509 in the DMZ.

To access the controller from your browser, first find the SX10509 ID number that is stuck to the board. Enter this ID number as a URL in your browser with “id” as the prefix. For example, if the ID is 3691053123, you would enter:

http://id3691053123

This should give you a screen in you browser that looks like this:

This screen comes from the webserver built into the SX10509.

Alternatively you can enter the SX10509 name into your browser if you know it. By default the controller name is SPLat. For example, if the controller name is SPLat, you would enter:

http://splat

The controller name may be changed via the Network Configuration tab.

You will now see the Status tab is highlighted and see realtime status information, such as date, time, CPU temperature (the processor on the SX10509) and Xwire status.

If you happen to be using a Unix/Linux computer, or an Apple product, they become http://id3691053123.local and http://splat.local.

If you are unable to contact the SX10509 via your web browser you may have encountered a security block. If that is the case, please see your local System Administrator.
