Onboard peripherals are devices that are “tightly integrated” into the main processor on a SPLat controller board. “Tightly integrated” means basically that the SPLat processor contains the Firmware required to control the device. Very often an onboard peripheral will be physically located on the controller board, but it may also be on the end of a cable.
