You will find dimensioned drawings of our metal face plate on the Resource Kit CD under the File Resources folder. You can use that to design your own panel.

The spacing between the board and the face plate is super-critical, unless you are using a custom graphics overlay with embossed buttons. If the board is too far off the face plate, it will be difficult or impossible to depress the overlay enough to activate the buttons. If the board is too close to the face plate the buttons will press permanently against the overlay and be accidentally activated. The correct spacer length is 9.5mm less the face plate thickness. Our standard face plates are 1.5mm aluminium, and we use 8mm spacers. We use nylon spacers. These are slightly compressible, and allow some fine adjustment of the spacing by adjusting the torque on the mounting screws.

Warning: The board and the metal faceplate (or any other metallic surface that the board is mounted to) must be attached using metal screws and no insulating hardware so they are at the same potential. The mounting holes on the board are deliberately made with exposed metal. Failure to “bond” the face plate to the board will expose the board and the LCD to the risk of damage from static discharge.
