SPice10206 – 3rd party embedded web server support

The SPice10206 is no longer on sale for new designs. Please contact us if you have an existing design that uses this product.

The SPice10206 board is a Tiny Serial Peripheral that interfaces a 3rd-party embedded webserver product to SPLat. The webserver product is SitePlayer Server SP1 from NetMedia. SitePlayer provides a 10MHz Ethernet CAT5 (RJ45) connection, meaning it can be connected to the vast majority of Local Area Networks (LANs) in the world.

It is important that you are aware of the distinction between the SPice10206 and the SitePlayer module. We do not make or support the SitePlayer. We normally do not sell you the SitePlayer either, though we may supply them as part of a special arrangement. Our contribution is to supply and support the SPice10206 board that enables the SPLat to communicate with the SitePlayer. Every SPice10206 board sold is 100% tested with a SitePlayer.

For development purposes we strongly recommend that you purchase a SitePlayer development kit from NetMedia, in addition to the SPice10206 you buy from us. You should also buy your SitePlayer SP1 modules directly from NetMedia. Be sure to order the SitePlayer Server SP1, not the SitePlayer Telnet (SPT1).

We selected the SitePlayer because it is a very effective embedded webserver design with a very simply and easily understood interface to the host processor (i.e. the SPLat). The SitePlayer metaphor of SiteObjects, and the SitePlayer host communications protocol, were in fact the inspiration for our Tiny Serial Peripheral interface.

Note: This is a TSP (Tiny Serial Peripheral). It is compatible only with selected SPLat Controllers. Please check the controller documentation to see if it is TSP compatible. That may mean checking its firmware revision history against the Firmware you have in your board(s)
