Push the record number to X. Raise a fatal error if the value exceeds 255.

Record numbers over 255 are perfectly legal (depending on the type of NVEM), but cannot be accommodated in X. Hence, you can handle records up to 255 using the register stack, but you would have to use floating point registers to manipulate higher numbered records.
