RTC: Backup power
Real Time Clocks are frequently equipped with a battery or other form of power source to maintain the clock (time) and data like event settings while the controller is without power. Please consult the RTC documentation for your specific SPLat controller product for details of backup power. Most commonly we use a large capacitor (0.1F), which provides 2 days or more of backup and has none of the lifetime limits of batteries.
